Have you ever noticed your pet acting strangely for no apparent reason? Maybe they stare at a corner of the room, bark at a space, or hide under the bed when nothing seems wrong. Some people believe that these behaviors are signs that pets can sense paranormal activity, such as ghosts, spirits, or other entities that are invisible to humans.
But is there any scientific evidence to support this claim? Or are pets just reacting to natural stimuli that we are unaware of? In this blog posting, we will explore some possible explanations for why pets might appear to feel paranormal activity and what you can do if you suspect your pet is experiencing something supernatural.
One of the most common theories is that pets have a heightened sense of hearing, smell, and vision, allowing them to detect subtle environmental changes that humans cannot. For example, pets might hear ultrasonic sounds, such as those emitted by electronic devices or rodents, beyond the range of human hearing. They might also smell chemical traces, such as those left by mold or decay, that are too faint for us to notice. Or they might see infrared light, such as that emitted by heat sources or cameras, that is invisible to our eyes.
These sensory abilities could explain why pets sometimes react to seemingly empty spaces or objects. They might be hearing, smelling, or seeing something we cannot and interpreting it as a potential threat or curiosity. This does not necessarily mean that they are sensing paranormal activity but rather responding to natural phenomena unfamiliar to them.
Another theory is that pets have a form of extrasensory perception (ESP) that enables them to perceive things beyond the physical realm. ESP is a controversial topic in science, as there is no conclusive proof that it exists or how it works. However, some researchers have conducted experiments to test whether animals have psychic abilities, such as telepathy, clairvoyance, or precognition.
For example, in the 1970s and 1980s, a psychologist named Rupert Sheldrake conducted a series of studies on dogs and cats that seemed to know when their owners were coming home. He found that some pets would wait by the door or window before their owners arrived, even when they came at random times or used different modes of transportation. He suggested that these pets had a telepathic bond with their owners, allowing them to anticipate their return.
Another example is the case of Oscar, a cat that lived in a nursing home in Rhode Island. Oscar had a reputation for predicting when patients were about to die. He would visit them in their rooms and curl up next to them until they passed away. He was so accurate that the staff would call the relatives of the patients when they saw him enter their rooms. Oscar's behavior was attributed to his ability to sense the changes in the patient's vital signs or body temperature or his intuition of their emotional state.
These examples could indicate that pets have some form of ESP that gives them access to information humans do not have. This could also explain why some pets seem to feel paranormal activity, such as ghosts or spirits. They can sense the presence or energy of these entities or communicate with them through telepathy. This does not necessarily mean that these entities are real or harmful, but rather that pets perceive reality differently than we do.
So what can you do if you think your pet is feeling paranormal activity? There is no definitive answer to this question, as different people have different beliefs and opinions about the supernatural. However, here are some possible suggestions:
- Observe your pet's behavior and try to identify any triggers or patterns. Is there a specific time, place, or object that causes your pet to act strangely? Is there anything unusual or abnormal in your environment, such as noises, smells, or lights? Is there any history of paranormal activity in your home or neighborhood? These factors could help determine whether your pet reacts to something natural or supernatural.
- Please consult your veterinarian and rule out any medical issues. Sometimes pets can act strangely due to health problems like infections, allergies, pain, or stress. It is essential to ensure your pet is healthy and comfortable before jumping to conclusions about paranormal activity.
- Seek professional help if you are concerned or scared. If you believe your pet is feeling paranormal activity and are worried about their well-being or safety, consider contacting a reputable animal communicator, psychic medium, or paranormal investigator. They can offer you some guidance or assistance in dealing with the situation.
- Respect your pet's feelings and preferences. Remember that your pet is an individual with their personality and emotions. They might have different reactions and opinions about paranormal activity than you do. Some pets might be curious and playful about it, while others might be fearful and anxious. Try not to force your pet to do anything they do not want to do or dismiss their feelings as irrational or silly. Instead, try to understand and support them and provide them with a safe and loving environment.
Pets are truly amazing creatures that can enrich our lives in many ways. They can also surprise us with their abilities and behaviors that we do not fully understand. Whether or not pets can feel paranormal activity is a question that might never be answered definitively. Still, it is certainly a fascinating topic to explore and discuss. What do you think? Everyone who comes to San Francisco or visits me on the Haunted Haight™ Walking Tour always asks me about Alcatraz and if there are ghosts on the island. Tourists are fascinated with the ghosts of Alcatraz. Everyone wants a Ghost Tour of Alcatraz. This is federal land and they do not like to talk about the ghosts on the island.
I can confirm the island IS very haunted. I have spent the night there with the History Channel and starred in a television program called Mystery Quest. Here is a link to the show if you’d like to learn more about it.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1549661/
Here are some of the haunted areas to visit THe Ghosts of Alcatraz island.
Mess Hall - People have been tapped on the shoulder.
Cell Block D - Some of the last solitary confinement cells are reportedly haunted.
Times Square: Prison gaurd ghost has been seen.
Barracks: Documented murder of a cadet happened in there.
Hospital: Probably the most haunted area of the prison.
In 2009, we discovered lots of evidence for the television show. In fact, San Francisco Ghost Society’s™ Vice President Anthony Anderson, was a volunteer docent on Alcatraz for many years. We can say with confidence, we know the ghosts of Alcatraz are REAL.
Sadly, there are no official ghost tours on the island. You can visit the island by going to the National Park Service website and getting tickets on the official ferry.

Do not get tickets to the island from ANYONE but the link on the official site above.
The National Park Service does sometimes offer night tours on Alcatraz island. They sell out very quickly. I would recommend buying them in advance. Consider coming on the Haunted Haight™ Walking Tour before you take a trip to the island. We would love to share all our insider tips and tell you where all the ghosts are! Happy Hauntings!

We hope your Holiday Season is amazing and look forward to a new tour in 2022. Stay tuned.
The brand new Haunted Haight Walking Tour site has been up a few days for BETA testing. Few more kinks but it is up and running. I love the new design and so happy to be sharing my blog with everyone. I have been doing this tour for 17 years. Covid 19 gave us time to make things better and more exciting. This tour has not been able to run for 17 years because people don't have a great time ghost hunting with us. I just wanted to be able to show people much more high tech custom built gear. I wanted tools that no one ever sees or that are invented and known by real ghost researchers who are in this field full time like me.
I look forward to doing more San Francisco Ghost Hunting Tours the rest of the year. I have a lot of bookings. Since I launched this new website I am getting sold out for the few tours I have over the holidays. I am also doing some private ghost hunting tours too. Great to be an authentic ghost hunter. My reputation and integrity are important to me. People know I AM THE REAL DEAL. Google me and google other tour's guides. We are San Francisco's best kept secret really. We are something you can do in San Francisco that is off the beaten path. I have devoted most of my life to the paranormal. 2022 is going to be an exciting year to come too. Lots of paranormal cases to share and hopefully can do some FREE ghost evidence lectures and more. Please Join me for an authentic "proven track record" kind of a ghost hunt with a professional paranormal investigator. It sucks the internet just breeds misinformation. Do your research folks. It will be worth it. www.hauntedhaight.com
